It seems a shame to have left beginning to write in such an interesting volume so long, but now that volume two is filled, its time has come. So it is that the third volume of my journal shall likely be the last. I'm told that its pages are "virtually inexhaustible". Quite how this is accomplished I am unsure, but I sincerely hope it will last longer than the simpler spell on volume one did.
Hawkchaser put in to Barency this morning, three days behind schedule thanks to that slope-wind. Velée's weather predictions are becoming unnervingly accurate; I am beginning to question my initial misgivings about her. Rollerbob, of course, continues to insist that it was simply luck, along with his usual assertions that she only came aboard via the captain's cabin.
In addition to the bulk of our cargo, we also bade farewell to our final passenger today, leaving us in the unfortunate position of going home empty unless a charter materialises before we need to leave. I'm not sure we can afford that again, especially with one of the outriggers needing its enchantment renewed and the emergency teleporter still needing replaced.
I remain optimistic, of course. I plan to spend the night in Barency proper. I think I've earned the right to treat myself a little, and something may well present itself. Rollerbob wants me to stay back at the dock and play squnk with him and his buddies, but if I'm to lose my money, I'd rather it be on something I'll still appreciate the next day.
